Is it Aging or Something More?

How are you supposed to know if your symptoms are due to aging or something worse?

Tired. Moody. Weight Gain. Brain fog. Weird Periods. Low sex drive, these are just a few of my symptoms.

My biggest question and why I’m on this journey in the first place … are my symptoms due to aging or is it something more? Maybe you are thinking the same thing.

After having these symptoms for a while, I’m talking a year plus …

I did what anyone of us would do;  I contacted my doctor.  In my case that would be my gynecologist. I rarely get sick so I don’t have a primary care doctor. I was concerned my hormones might be out of whack, so I decided that this would be a good place to start.

We talked about my symptoms. She did an exam, checked out the lady bits, took some blood work and sent me on my way.

I got a call back from one of the nurses saying everything came back normal. It’s bittersweet, of course I’m relieved everything is all good; but on the other hand I still had my symptoms. I still felt crappy and I’m still in the same boat I was a few weeks back.

To this day, I have no clue what they tested for nor have I seen my results. But I’m normal so yay, I guess.

I respect all doctors and nurses but the traditional healthcare system is messed up, ya’ll. They would rather prescribe and send you on the way than actually look deeper into your situation and help you heal. The range of “healthy” is so broad on those labs that just because you are in the healthy range, doesn’t mean it’s healthy or normal for you.

This is why I decided to go a different route and dive deeper into my body and set up a consultation to talk with a natural doctor.

I’m tired of the guessing game. I see on Instagram everyday these little pictures of all the symptoms I have. Yet, one will tell me I’m estrogen dominance, the next I have thyroid issues or ADHD.

The reality of it all, I could very well have any of these issues because each one can have similar symptoms. But you want to know what else can have the same symptoms. Aging. As we get older, things start getting a little out of whack and what I’m learning is that my symptoms could just be that. The only way for us to find out is to dive deeper.

If it is just aging, I can then start to learn what supplements I need to take, what foods I should be eating and what workouts I should be doing. If it’s something more, I’ll be able to hit it head on.

But it’s kind of like plumbing … if you can’t find the leak, how do we know where to fix it?

How do we know if it’s just aging or something more serious? I’m going with my next step. Lab testing. What those labs are, I’m not sure yet but I’ll be sure to keep you posted!

Have you gotten any labs done? If so, which ones?
